Why did you decide to get married at Alta Peruvian Lodge?
Solitude offered the best accommodations/lodging for our many, out-of-town guests!
What was your favorite moment of your Alta Peruvian Lodge Wedding?
Not to sound too cliche, but being up at the altar surrounded by all of our favorite people was truly the best. It’s something we’ll never be able to experience in the same way again and was just incredible.
Describe the overall mood or theme (ex: classic, color palette, modern, boho)
Mountain chic. Colors navy blue, burnt orange/ copper
What were the highlights of your ceremony?
1) having our good friend as the officiant made the whole ceremony more “us” 2) hearing each other’s vows honestly made us fall in love all over again right there.
What were the highlights of your reception?
The speeches from our families and friends were so heartfelt, sincere and made us feel ALL of the emotions. The love pouring out of each speech was palpable and is something we’ll never forget. We also had sooooo much fun dancing our butts off. Hours and hours of music played by the two best DJs made for the BEST dance party!
Were any ethnic, religious, cultural, or family traditions included in your day?
At the end of the ceremony, our parents greeted us with a traditionally baked rye bread loaf, a small bowl of salt, and a shot of vodka each (tied together). This is a Polish tradition where each family welcomes the couple into the family by presenting these items and kissing the couple as a sign of welcome, unity, and love.
Any planning or wedding-day advice for future couples?
Designate, designate, designate so that your day can be stress-free. This will allow you to actually ENJOY every moment of your wedding day.
How was the overall experience of your planning? Also, the highs and lows?
We had an amazing wedding planner, which made the planning process so much easier and honestly pretty fun. High was probably the tasting and our engagement photo shoot – those were both really enjoyable and we made an evening out of them. Low was probably not being on the same page with one of our vendors about the budget. But we were able to sort it out in the end and everything turned out better than I could have imagined.
Read their Wedding Photography Review:
“Austen is the photographer you NEED for your big day. He’s incredibly talented and his photography is second to none. His shots are unique and it’s clear that he takes great pride in his work. He’s been doing this for a long time and it shows. All you have to do is take a look at his work.. it speaks for itself. But more than his mind-blowing photography, Austen has such a positive, uplifting, and calming presence. He was so easy to work with, really made communication a breeze, and offered his help wherever he possibly could. This made all the difference in us feeling comfortable and ready to face anything on our wedding day. He truly made me feel beautiful and confident throughout the day which means more than I can even express. Working with Austen was one of the best decisions we made and we are so thankful to have such high-quality photos to remember our day in the years to come!” –Janine Hoerauf
