If you’ve ever wondered what an adventurous winter engagement in a snowstorm looks like, your curiosity shall now be cured. Taylor & Saxon bundled up and romped through a snowstorm at Donut Falls for a one-of-a-kind engagement session that showcases the extraordinary Big Cottonwood Canyon.
In the days leading up to their session, the weather looked precarious, but after much back and forth, we decided that there was not better way for these Alabama natives to show off their new home than amongst Utah’s greatest asset, namely, its snow. Granted, the jaw-dropping vistas were a trade-off for all this delightful white stuff.
I personally love shooting in the snow. From the flecks of snow to make some cool bokeh, to the realness of playing outside in it, a snowstorm is a perfectly dandy time to shoot. That said, I wanted to ensure that the couple had some pretty pictures before hair and makeup were destroyed, so we opted to take a pit stop at Silver Lake Lodge.
The oaky interior, cozy couches, and mighty fine cocktails at Silver Fork Lodge created a captivating and—again—real environment. The location is also a fantastic spot for outdoor summer weddings and events. Anyhoo, I always recommend that a couple choose an activity that they love doing together, whether its getting a drink, going bowling, or conquering a mountain, to make their photos authentic to their story. Nailed it!
