Brighton Resort is Utah’s best-kept mountain wedding secret. High in Big Cottonwood Canyon, ceremonies happen on the lawn in front of Milly Chalet, with meadows, aspens and Mt. Millicent behind you, and you’re standing on the mountain rather than at a resort looking at it. Cocktail hour moves onto the patio and the reception goes inside the chalet. The feel of the place comes straight from Brighton’s snowboard culture: relaxed and unfussy, closer to a great party than a formal production. If you’re comfortable rolling up your sleeves and handling some of the details yourself, the mountain handles the rest.

Ceremony Sites at Brighton Resort
The standard ceremony is on the lawn in front of Milly Chalet, with meadows, aspens and views toward Mt. Millicent behind it, and it’s included in the Milly Chalet wedding package.
Couples booking Milly Chalet can add a mountaintop ceremony. That buys lift access to the top of Mt. Millicent for every guest, plus ceremony chairs, shade, an aid station and a bar and food station. The bar menu is limited for the mountaintop package, with no glass containers and no specialty drinks.
A ceremony-only booking is available at any Brighton venue, with its own site fee and food-and-beverage minimum, and it includes chairs for 100 guests, an arch and a water station.
Ceremony-only events run a maximum of 3 hours from the start of decorating to the last guest leaving, and Brighton may hold high-demand dates back from ceremony-only bookings.
Reception Spaces at Brighton Resort
Milly Chalet rents as a full building for up to 125 guests. That covers restrooms, reserved parking for up to 75 vehicles, and linens, tables and chairs.
Wasatch Mountain Lodge, the other wedding venue Brighton operates, is also a full-building rental, for up to 75 guests, with restrooms and parking for up to 40 vehicles. Tables and chairs come with it, but no linens are listed in Brighton’s package description, so budget for renting your own.
Brighton describes Wasatch Mountain Lodge as more limited on customization than Milly Chalet, and asks couples to check with the sales team before planning decorations, vendors or services outside the standard package.
Getting Ready, Lodging & Guest Logistics
Setup access starts 3 hours before guests arrive at Milly Chalet and 2 hours before at Wasatch Mountain Lodge. Everything you bring in, including decorations, personal items and outside rentals, has to be out within 2 hours of the last guest leaving at either building.
Neither building has back-of-house or private storage space for the couple or for vendors, so plan on a same-day load-in and load-out.
Guest parking is reserved on site, up to 75 vehicles at Milly Chalet and up to 40 at Wasatch Mountain Lodge.
Brighton Lodge has overnight rooms for guests who want to stay on the mountain, and the whole lodge can be bought out.
Catering & Vendors at Brighton Resort
Brighton cooks for every wedding it hosts. The menu runs brunch, lunch and dinner buffets, plated dinners, appetizers, desserts, wedding cakes, ready-room snacks and bar service, and outside food or beverage isn’t permitted at any Brighton event.
Bringing in your own cake carries a fee, as does an outside rental or an outside A/V or entertainment booking. Every other outside vendor needs management approval, and vendors aren’t allowed to drink alcohol at a Brighton event.
A 22% service charge applies across food, beverage, equipment rental and labor, split between the service staff and house costs.
Brighton Resort Wedding Cost
Booking Milly Chalet for a wedding is $3,500 with a $5,000 food-and-beverage minimum, for up to 125 guests, and that includes the ceremony and 2 extra hours of setup time. Wasatch Mountain Lodge is $2,500 with a $4,000 minimum, for up to 75 guests, and it includes the ceremony and 2 extra hours of setup time as well.
A rehearsal dinner or brunch can be added at either building for $2,000 with a $3,000 minimum, and it’s only available alongside a wedding booking. Milly Chalet couples can also add the mountaintop ceremony for $7,500, which includes lift access for every guest, chairs, shade, an aid station and a food and bar setup.
A ceremony-only booking, at any Brighton venue, is $2,000 with a $3,000 minimum Monday through Thursday, or $5,000 with a $4,000 minimum Friday through Sunday.
Catering is on top of that. Buffets run roughly $15 to $79 a person depending on the menu, and wedding cakes from about $300 for a 2-tier to $1,500 for a 5-tier. Bringing in your own cake instead carries a $250 fee, and an outside rental is $1,000.
A/V and entertainment are priced separately once you want more than what’s built in. Access to the built-in Bluetooth audio and screens is $250, a wireless mic is $150, a full PA system is $1,500 and a stage is $600.
Booking entertainment through Brighton is $250 plus the artist’s fee, and bringing in outside A/V or your own booking carries a $1,500 fee instead.
Holding a date takes a 20% deposit and a signed event contract, with the balance due 7 days before the wedding. Changes to the menu, the headcount or other details inside 10 days of the date carry a change fee, and a 22% service charge applies to food, beverage, equipment and labor.
A Photographer’s Take on Brighton Resort
Brighton is one of my favorite places to shoot a wedding, and it’s because of how low-key it is. That’s a trickle-down effect from the snowboard culture at the resort itself.
It’s perfect for couples who don’t mind doing some DIY work, because what you’re doing is taking Milly Chalet from a skier’s lunch spot to a cute wedding venue. Honestly, it isn’t hard. The view does most of the work for you.
The ceremony site is right next to the Milly chairlift, looking up the mountain with greenery all around you. You’re literally on the mountain, standing on a ski run. At a lot of destinations you’re at a resort looking at the mountain, and here you’re on it.
Go for a tiny little hike from there and there are great little portrait spots in the aspen groves, looking down the canyon.
You lose light a bit earlier here than at some of the other venues, and that’s actually a benefit, because the open shade makes everything photograph exceptionally well.
And let it be known that I’ve had one of the best fine-dining meals of my life at Brighton. I was absolutely shocked at what the chef put out.
Low-key vibes, being on a mountain, greenery all around. It’s a huge win and I’d highly recommend it.
