The Salt Lake City greenhouse is the smaller of the two the company runs, and its sister greenhouse in Draper is the one more couples end up booking, but the Salt Lake room puts a whole wedding under glass in a nursery that is still selling plants on a Tuesday. With the plants doing most of the visual work, weddings here run relaxed and unfussy.

Ceremony Sites at Cactus & Tropicals
You can hold the ceremony inside the greenhouse, in among the plant inventory and the filtered window light, or outside in a garden area with a koi pond and a pavilion. Pets have been welcome for the ceremony.
The light arrives through glass and through whatever is growing under it rather than straight from the sun, so family formals and portraits in front of an arch or arbor set up without a fight.
Reception Spaces at Cactus & Tropicals
The same greenhouse becomes the reception, with counters for buffets and displays and a prep area for caterers to work out of.
The rental includes a cake table, a sign-in table, three highboys, decorative easels, a bird cage, a personalized sign, blooming centerpieces, and an audio system with a flat-screen TV, an auxiliary input and a wireless microphone.
Cactus & Tropicals books one event per greenhouse per day, so nobody else is loading in while you’re eating.
Getting Ready, Lodging & Guest Logistics
There’s a private dressing room with its own restroom for getting ready on site. Staff handle setup and takedown and stay through the event.
Photography on the property before the wedding is included if you schedule it in advance, which is worth doing since the greenhouse looks different in daylight than it will at 8 p.m.

The last figures we have for the Salt Lake City greenhouse: $2,000 to $2,200 for a Sunday through Thursday date and $2,300 to $2,600 for a Friday or Saturday, with the higher figure in each pair covering the ceremony as well as the reception. A refundable $500 security deposit applied on top, and paying the full balance at booking took 10% off.
The Draper greenhouse has historically cost several hundred dollars more per date than the Salt Lake City greenhouse. Florals sit outside the room rental either way: the in-house florist books on its own agreement with 50% up front.
A Photographer’s Take on Cactus & Tropicals
I’ve photographed weddings at Cactus & Tropicals. It’s not the first venue I bring up, but it’s a genuinely great option for a shoulder-season date, and even into winter. It feels like you’re outdoors because of all that window light, but it’s an actual working greenhouse, so it’s delightfully warm in a season when the weather outside isn’t.
The best part is that you can keep your floral budget low, because you’re already surrounded by plants. Just try not to look at the price tags.
Because the light is filtered through the windows and maybe through the trees on top of that, family formals and portraits in front of an arch or arbor come easy. The main priority here should be candids. You can throw quite a party in this room, and there aren’t many other opportunities for portraits aside from within some rows of plants.
