Caffe Molise is a downtown Salt Lake City wedding venue that delivers atmosphere and food in equal measure. It’s inside the Eagles Building, put up in 1915 and 1916 for the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the grand staircase and arched windows do most of the decorating for you.
You get married on a walled garden patio and eat upstairs in a room of exposed brick and black-and-white tile. Nobody drives anywhere in between, and the kitchen feeding your guests is the same one that feeds the dining room every day of the week.

Ceremony Sites at Caffe Molise
Most ceremonies happen on the patio, a walled garden with stone accents, potted trees and flowers, and a water feature, reached by a wrought-iron staircase.
If the weather turns, the ceremony moves inside to a space held in reserve, so a rainy forecast doesn’t put the date back on the table.
Reception Spaces at Caffe Molise
The Main Floor Private Dining Room seats up to 25 and suits a small reception.
The patio works as a cocktail hour space or as a dining area.
Caffe Molise also books the entire restaurant. No guest-count ceiling is published for a full buyout, because it depends on how the floors are configured.
Getting Ready, Lodging & Guest Logistics
There’s no dedicated getting-ready suite. Caffe Molise has recommended couples do hair, makeup and dressing somewhere else and use the bathrooms on site for final touch-ups.
No lodging on site either, though Little America and The Grand America are both within about a block.
Guests can walk to Main Street shopping, City Creek Center and several downtown green spaces between events, and the airport is about 10 minutes out.
Caffe Molise has said it’s open until 10 p.m. but may make accommodations for parties that need more time. The restaurant’s own dining hours run to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, but neither of those is a published end time for a private event. Get your own end time in writing when you book.
Catering & Vendors at Caffe Molise
Caffe Molise cooks Northern Italian food drawn from Italy’s Molise region and caters every private event itself. The food is inside the minimum spend rather than billed on top of it, and no outside-caterer exception is published.
Tables, chairs, leather banquettes and antique chairs come with the room.
Caffe Molise Wedding Cost
Caffe Molise prices a wedding as a food-and-beverage minimum rather than a rental fee. You commit to spending a set amount on food and drink, and the room comes with it.
The Banquet Level Dining Room and Mezzanine and the patio both start at $1,750 for a weekday lunch and reach $10,000 for a Friday or Saturday dinner, with a Sunday through Thursday dinner in December at $7,000 instead of the usual $6,000.
The entire restaurant is $6,000 for any lunch, $14,000 to $18,000 for dinner in winter, and $15,000 to $20,000 for dinner in summer, depending on the day.
On top of the minimum there’s an event fee of $150 for lunch, $250 for dinner and $500 for the entire restaurant, plus a 20% service charge and 8.75% sales tax.
If you come in under your minimum, you’re billed the difference and the same fees apply. If you go over, you pay what you actually spent, and the same fees apply to that. Either way, the number on your contract is closer to a floor than a ceiling.
Caffe Molise last published these figures in January 2024, so confirm current numbers with the venue before you budget.
A Photographer’s Take on Caffe Molise
This is one I recommend and one most couples don’t have on their list. I photographed a wedding here for one of Salt Lake City’s better-known food bloggers, and I don’t think that was an accident. Someone who eats for a living picked this place over everywhere else in the city.
The food is the reason most people book it. If I think with my eyes instead of my stomach, though, what actually works for me is the courtyard where the ceremony happens.
There’s shade overhead, so the light coming down on the couple is filtered and soft in a way I don’t get at close to any other venue I shoot. Nobody is squinting through their vows and I’m not fighting the sun during the part of the day I can’t reshoot.
Then you go upstairs and the reception room is brick walls and a checkerboard mid-century floor, which isn’t a combination I’ve found anywhere else in Salt Lake City. Urban, genuinely cool, and it photographs as well as it looks. Indoors and out. Plus the food.
