The mill building itself works as a ceremony space when the weather turns or you’d rather be inside, under exposed beams. Whichever you pick, the day runs inside the same window: events at Chase Mill start at 2 p.m. and end at 10 p.m.
Reception Spaces at Chase Mill at Tracy Aviary
Inside the mill, the main floor seats 80 under bistro lighting, the basement seats 50 and has a small catering kitchen off it, and the upper level seats another 50. The three floors add up to 180 seats, but Tracy Aviary plans the building around 150.
The practical version of that: 80 is the largest number you can seat on one floor, so a guest list much past that splits the party across levels. Outside, the lawn seats up to 150, or holds 200 for a standing reception.
Getting Ready, Lodging & Guest Logistics
The upper level has a private dressing room with a bathroom. There’s an elevator in the building, and two ADA-accessible restrooms in the basement. No lodging sits on the grounds, so out-of-town guests book hotels in the city and drive or ride in.
The Chase Mill rents year-round rather than seasonally, and the best months to host a wedding here are April through October. Tracy Aviary opens other locations on the grounds seasonally on request, which is worth asking about if the mill isn’t the shape of day you want.

Bring your own caterer. Tracy Aviary doesn’t run a kitchen or a bar at Chase Mill and doesn’t hand you a list you have to hire from. The small catering kitchen in the basement gives your caterer somewhere to stage from. Alcohol needs a licensed bartender and isn’t served before 5 p.m.
Wood folding chairs, round, cocktail and banquet tables, a PA system, a projector and screen, easels and propane heaters are all available through the venue. Linens and a decorative arch have been part of the package in the past, so ask what’s included now.
This is a working bird sanctuary, and the decor limits follow from that: no rice, confetti, birdseed, toothpicks, fireworks or sparklers, and LED candles only. Birds can also be requested for your event, for a fee the venue doesn’t publish.
