Ceremony Sites at Deer Valley Resort
There are 9 wedding spaces at Deer Valley Resort. 6 of them are at 2 day lodges and 3 are out on the mountain.
Empire Canyon Lodge sits at 8,300 feet and holds up to 200 guests in its largest room. The Empire Canyon Deck holds the same 200 outdoors, April through October, and the Empire Canyon Lawn holds 200 as well, June through October.
Silver Lake Lodge, at 8,100 feet, holds up to 220 in its largest room and books year-round. The Silver Lake Deck runs April through October at that same 220, and the Silver Lake Lawn holds up to 300 in September and October.
Orion Meadow and Homestake are ceremony-only sites, both capped at 200. Orion Meadow is open July through October and Homestake June through September. The highest site is Cushing’s Cabin, on top of Flagstaff Mountain at 9,100 feet, open June through September, with room for 60 guests inside and 200 across the cabin and its grounds.
Winter ceremonies can’t start before 7 p.m., since the resort keeps skiing running on the mountain until then.
Reception Spaces at Deer Valley Resort
Most of the ceremony sites double as reception spaces. Empire Canyon Lodge, the Empire Canyon Deck and the Empire Canyon Lawn all seat receptions at the same 200 as their ceremonies, and the 3 Silver Lake spaces do the same at 220 to 300. Cushing’s Cabin seats an indoor reception for up to 60, with more room outside on the grounds.
Every wedding package includes a rehearsal, 60-inch or 72-inch round tables, leather chairs, white floor-length linens, a dance floor, and china, glassware and silverware, plus a wedding cake from HoneyB Cakes & Pastries.
The space is yours until midnight. Vendors load in earlier in the day, so the room is set before guests arrive. Not every venue here is pet friendly, so check with Deer Valley Resort about your specific site if a dog is part of the plan.
Getting Ready, Lodging & Guest Logistics
Deer Valley Resort is about 38 miles from Salt Lake City International Airport, roughly a 40-minute drive.
3 on-site properties take guests: The Lodges at Deer Valley, Silver Baron Lodge, and the Signature Collection of private homes and condominiums. Rooms range from hotel rooms to 3-bedroom suites.
A room block takes a minimum of 10 rooms for 2 nights plus a food-and-beverage minimum, and that minimum can be spent on other wedding events. If you’d rather not carry a block, the resort will set up a private booking link at the best available rate, with no rooms held and no financial commitment on your side.
Silver Lake Lodge has its own parking for up to 60 vehicles, with valet for an extra fee. Empire Canyon Lodge doesn’t, so guests get there by shuttle that you arrange. The on-mountain ceremony sites work the same way, with the resort moving people up by private shuttle.
Catering & Vendors at Deer Valley Resort
Deer Valley Resort’s own culinary team caters every wedding, led by executive chef Sam Phelan, who has cooked at Stowe Mountain Resort, Calistoga Ranch, Montage Deer Valley and the Waldorf Astoria Park City. Outside catering isn’t permitted, and under Utah liquor law neither is outside alcohol. Bar service is billed on what guests actually drink, and every wedding carries a 25% service fee plus tax.
HoneyB Cakes & Pastries supplies the cake in every package. Gold-package couples get a private menu tasting 3 to 6 months out, and Silver-package couples get a cake tasting.
Every other vendor is your call, with one requirement: a licensed wedding planner has to be in place at least a month before the wedding. Deer Valley Resort has said it keeps an on-site event planner and 3 coordinators available for hire, or you can bring your own planner.
Deer Valley Resort Wedding Cost
Deer Valley Resort publishes its wedding pricing, in season-specific package guides.
Summer weddings of 80 guests or more run $210 to $230 per person on a weekday and up to $250 per person on a Saturday, with no separate venue rental. Winter weddings of the same size run $280 to $300 per person plus a $4,000 venue rental.
A smaller wedding of 50 to 79 guests adds a venue rental either way: $4,000 in summer, $6,000 in winter. On top of the per-person rate, every package carries a 25% service fee and tax.
Ceremony sites are priced as add-ons. Orion Meadow is $2,000, Homestake $3,000, and Cushing’s Cabin $4,000. An outdoor winter ceremony after daylight saving time ends is $4,500. Moving dinner outdoors is $1,500, and an after-party at either lodge is $10,000.
Couples with fewer than 50 guests get pointed to a separate Alpine Escape guide, priced apart from the main wedding packages.
What to Know Before You Book Deer Valley Resort
The first question is guest count, because it decides which price applies. Packages are built around 80 guests or more; book smaller than that and a venue rental gets added to the per-person rate, which changes the math on an intimate wedding fast.
The second is timing. The lodges book indoor weddings year-round, but the mountain sites open on a rolling seasonal schedule between April and October, and each one has its own window: Homestake runs June through September, Orion Meadow July through October, and Cushing’s Cabin, the highest and most remote of the three, only June through September.
A winter wedding means an indoor lodge and a ceremony that can’t start before 7 p.m., once the day’s skiing wraps up.
The third is exclusivity. Deer Valley Resort’s own culinary team caters every wedding and outside catering and alcohol aren’t permitted, so the food and bar budget is one line item rather than several vendor quotes to weigh against each other. A licensed wedding planner also has to be in place at least a month out, whether that’s a planner from the resort or one a couple brings themselves.
Getting guests up the mountain is worth sorting out early, too. Silver Lake Lodge has its own parking lot, but Empire Canyon Lodge and every on-mountain ceremony site depend on a shuttle that has to be arranged, and that’s a logistics conversation worth having well before the wedding weekend.
