Kylee and Nikki Darby’s Goblin Valley elopement in Green River, Utah was nothing short of a magical celebration of their love story. The couple chose to tie the knot in the place where they fell in love, making the ceremony even more special. We asked the couple to share some of their memories from their beautiful wedding day.

Why did you decide to get married in Goblin Valley?

We chose Goblin Valley because it’s where we fell in love. We went there early on in our relationship, and it was kind of a “make it or break it” trip. Luckily, we “made it” and came back realizing that we had something special.

It’s a place we like to visit often and love to share with others, so it felt perfect to celebrate the next step in our relationship exactly where it really started.

What was your favorite moment of your Goblin Valley BLM Elopement?

Honestly, our favorite part of our wedding was taking photos with Austin after we had said “I do!” He had scoped out the area before the wedding and had found all the spots that led to epic photos. He made us feel super comfortable and gave us fantastic guidance on how to pose, whilst also giving us space to just be our natural selves. In the last photos we took (and our favorites), we were up on a cliff, and we could hear all of our loved ones down below cheering us on. It felt like the whole valley was there to celebrate our love.

Describe the overall mood or theme (ex: classic, color palette, modern, boho)

Our theme was somewhere between boho and come as you are.

What were the highlights of your ceremony?

Kylee’s older brother performed the ceremony with complete creative freedom, in his own words. He made us all laugh, cry and explode with happiness.

What were the highlights of your reception?

Enjoying each other’s company, sharing our favorite memories, and sharing drinks that lead to some note-worthy karaoke.

Any planning or wedding-day advice for future couples?

It’s YOUR wedding. Don’t pick a venue, a dress/suit, or a menu unless it’s what feels right for you and your future spouse. Your wedding should be a happy memory in your story, not a stressful one.

How was the overall experience of your planning? Also, the highs and lows?

The overall experience was pretty chill – just like we are. We focused on what mattered most to us: being able to spend our day with the people we love, in the place we love most, while capturing the day so we could relive it when we are both old and wrinkly. The highs were endless, and luckily we didn’t encounter any lows.

“There are no words to express how happy we are that we were lucky enough to have Austen photograph our wedding. Not only is he incredible at what he does, but he is also a great guy. We had a lot of fun during our shoot with him and our pictures turned out better than we could have ever imagined!” -Nikki
