Set on Blue Sky Ranch outside Park City in Wanship, this working distillery is one of the most memorable wedding venues in Utah, a destination layered on top of a destination. It’s modern without losing character, rooted in craft, and unmistakably New West. Guests are shuttled in, cocktails are taken seriously, and the celebration leans social and spirited. Here’s what a wedding there actually involves, from the ride up to what it costs.

Location — High West Distillery’s event venue is at 27649 Old Lincoln Hwy in Wanship, on Blue Sky Ranch, about 45 minutes from Salt Lake City (roughly an hour and 15 minutes from Salt Lake City International Airport) and about 25 minutes from Park City. This is the Wanship distillery, not High West’s Park City Saloon or the Nelson Cottage, which are separate event spaces about 25 minutes away.
Capacity — High West seats 65 for an indoor plated dinner, 92 for an indoor buffet, 80 for a plated dinner using the deck, 125 for a buffet reception with the deck open, and 150 to 250 for a cocktail-style reception. Ceremony sites are separate: the indoor chapel seats around 60, the outdoor amphitheater around 135.

High West runs the distillery, the tasting room and the event spaces as one operation on Blue Sky Ranch, and it hosts ceremonies, rehearsal dinners and receptions in them. Whiskey is made in the building the rest of the year, which is most of what gives the place its character. Most weddings here land between June and October.
Ceremony Sites at High West Distillery
High West has two ceremony sites: an indoor chapel with floor-to-ceiling windows and a fireplace, seating around 60, and an outdoor amphitheater with a water feature and aspen trees, seating around 135. The view from the amphitheater is rolling mountains for miles with nothing built up in the way. It’s a compact space that reads intimate rather than romantic, which suits a shorter guest list.
Reception Spaces at High West Distillery
Receptions use the Tasting Room, the Refectory and the deck. The restaurant space where the reception happens reads modern rustic, in keeping with the rest of High West.
The deck is the variable that decides your guest list. Indoors, dinner seats 65 plated or 92 on a buffet. Open the deck and those become 80 and 125. A cocktail-style reception, where people move rather than sit, takes 150 to 250. If your count sits near either line, the deck is part of the plan rather than a bonus, and it’s worth asking what happens to it in bad weather.
Getting Ready, Lodging & Guest Logistics
The site fee includes a bridal suite for getting ready, along with chairs, china, flatware, glassware and tables.
Nobody pulls up to the door, so the shuttle belongs in the timeline rather than around it, and anyone who needs a slower path from the drop-off to a seat should be arranged for in advance. High West describes most of the venue as ADA-accessible and asks that you call ahead with specifics for anyone who needs it.
High West holds 1 wedding a day, so your date has the site to itself. Weddings can’t start before 6 p.m. and need to wrap by midnight. Pets are welcome at the ceremony on a leash but are asked to sit out the reception.

Wedding menus have featured local trout and bison, with bourbon-infused dishes among the options. Ask what’s currently on offer when you meet with their team.
High West doesn’t publish an outside-catering policy either way, and it doesn’t publish a preferred vendor list, so put both on the first call if either matters to you.
High West Distillery Wedding Cost
High West doesn’t publish wedding pricing. There’s no rate card, no site fee and no per-person wedding menu anywhere on highwest.com.
Because High West runs its own catering, one quote from the venue should cover the space and the food together, which is worth confirming early since food and bar are usually the larger half. The food and beverage minimum isn’t published either, so ask for that number and for the bar sheet on the same call.
A Photographer’s Take on High West Distillery
There’s a certain cool factor to getting married at the home base of a top-shelf whiskey maker, and the rest of the experience is top-shelf too. The food is genuinely good, not dry wedding chicken. The cocktails are the best you’ll get at a Utah wedding.
The real reason people book here is the add-ons. A whiskey tasting for your guests during the reception, and food they’ll talk about after. You get a destination experience where you literally shuttle people in from Park City, which turns the arrival into part of the night instead of a logistics problem.
The views from the ceremony site look out into the Wasatch Back and rolling mountains for miles, unobstructed by civilization. The small amphitheater is an intimate place for a smaller wedding rather than a romantic one, and the difference matters when you’re picturing your own day in it. The restaurant space where the reception happens is modern rustic, the same as the whole High West feel.
You also get to go late into the night here, which isn’t something I can say everywhere I work. Inside and out, the lines are clean, and clean lines are what I want to put people in front of.
