Montage Deer Valley Wedding Info & Cost

Montage Deer Valley is the benchmark. If luxury gets thrown around loosely elsewhere, this is where it actually lives. It’s a ski-in, ski-out resort at 8,200 feet in Deer Valley, with a ceremony lawn that looks out over the Wasatch Back.

Most weddings here run over a whole weekend, planned by top-tier planners, with layered design and big guest counts.

Season — Montage Deer Valley books weddings year-round, with separate winter and summer activity programs for guests. It has also said it hosts only one wedding a day, so you won’t be sharing the grounds with another wedding party.

Pets — Montage Deer Valley’s wedding policy is that pets must stay leashed and are welcome at the ceremony only. As hotel guests, though, a broader policy applies too: a $200 non-refundable fee, up to two dogs per room, leashed outdoors and out of the pools, the spa, the fitness areas and the dining rooms. Ask which policy applies to your event.

End time — Receptions on Montage Deer Valley’s outdoor spaces run until 10 p.m., and indoor ones until midnight.

Ceremony Sites at Montage Deer Valley

The Grand Lawn is the ceremony site most couples come here for. It’s 20,000 square feet, seats 1,400 at rounds of ten and holds 2,000 standing, and it looks out at the Wasatch Back.

Smaller outdoor sites cover most of the range below that. The Mountain Lawn is 4,800 square feet and takes 250 at rounds of ten. The Grand Terrace is 5,200 square feet and takes 340, which is more than any indoor room on the property. The Gallery Terrace holds 120 and the Vista Terrace 100, both at 2,300 square feet.

You can also marry indoors. The Grand Ballroom runs ceremonies under a 16-foot ceiling, and the Salon, with a 10-foot ceiling, suits a small one.

Reception Spaces at Montage Deer Valley

The Grand Ballroom is the largest indoor room at 4,300 square feet, with a 16-foot ceiling and seating for 320 at rounds of ten. The Upper Vista Lounge matches that 320 in a 5,500-square-foot room. Below those, the Empire Room seats 200, the Gallery Ballroom 180, the Empire Lounge 150 and the Salon 70.

The two biggest reception spaces are both outdoors. The Grand Terrace takes 340 and the Grand Lawn takes 1,400, so a large seated dinner here is an outdoor event by default.

Getting Ready, Lodging & Guest Logistics

The Salon is 1,100 square feet under a 10-foot ceiling, and Montage Deer Valley describes it as a retreat where the bride and her close family and friends get ready and have brunch on the wedding day. The Boardroom, 575 square feet, is the bridal-party staging room.

There are 220 guestrooms, suites and residences on site, so your guests can sleep where they celebrate. Additional hotels and condos are available nearby in Deer Valley and Park City for guests who’d rather book off-site.

A wedding requires a block of 20 rooms for 2 nights. Check-in is 4:00 p.m. and check-out is noon, with early check-in and late check-out available on request but not guaranteed.

Parking is valet only, which is worth knowing before you tell 200 people to drive themselves.

The spa is 35,000 square feet, open 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily, with salon services available for the wedding party. The resort has also offered recreation like mountain biking, fly fishing, boating and trips to nearby national parks — ask what’s currently on offer for your wedding weekend.

Catering & Vendors at Montage Deer Valley

Catering is in-house, with wedding menus built around local, organic ingredients from regional farms and producers. Outside food and beverage isn’t allowed, so your menu comes from their kitchen.

A 25% service charge applies to food and beverage, and 10.05% tax applies to the food-and-beverage total including that service charge. A 25% deposit is due when you sign, rising to 50% if you sign within 9 months of the date.

There’s a wine cellar on the property, and the last count available put it above 500 labels. Ask what’s on the list now if the wine program is part of what you’re buying.

Montage Deer Valley Wedding Cost

Montage Deer Valley doesn’t publish wedding pricing. The planning page is a request-for-proposal form with no figures on it.

The last figures we had, from 2023, were a $28,000 starting venue rental in peak months, $20,000 in April, May and November, and $3,000 for a ceremony on its own, and we’re working on getting couples a current number.

What is confirmed is the shape of the bill around the rental. A 25% service charge and 10.05% tax apply to food and beverage. A 25% deposit is due at signing, or 50% if you’re inside 9 months of your date. A wedding requires a room block of 20 rooms for 2 nights.

Valet parking adds $10 a day, $60 overnight or $500 a day in ski season. A rollaway bed is $150 a night, and a dog is $200.

Because catering is in-house and exclusive, the site and the food come out of the same conversation, so ask for both in one number when you call.

A Photographer’s Take on Montage Deer Valley

The venue sits in the middle of one of the most prestigious ski resorts in the country, and the ceremony site on the Grand Lawn looks out at the Wasatch Back. It’s awe-inspiring, and from tip to tail every part of a wedding here carries that same stateliness. This is for couples who want to spare no expense on any part of the day.

Photos here tend to feel editorial, because of all the flowers and decor that go into the experience, and what I like is that you still get blue hour over a natural view alongside the refinement of a wedding done well.

This is one of the rare venues that isn’t south-facing, so the light on you during the ceremony comes across broadside. It works, and it doesn’t put the sun in your guests’ eyes.

The thing to protect, if you’re getting married here and you want photographs with the landscape actually in them, is time. Weddings at venues like this tend to run on very tight timelines, and you have to hold moments open to go take portraits when the light is best, which is not midday. It’s sunset and blue hour.

The sun goes behind the mountains early up here, so there’s a false sunset that lands about an hour before the real one.
