Why did you decide to get married at Red Butte Garden?

We chose red butte because of the beautiful scenery and Kimi’s because we loved the food, staff, and atmosphere. It was an intimate setting that fit our wedding group perfectly.

What was your favorite moment of your Red Butte Garden Morning Ceremony?

Too many to list. Besides the obvious, signing the wedding license and dancing.

Describe the overall mood or theme (ex: classic, color palette, modern, boho)

Classic.

What were the highlights of your ceremony?

Saying I do!

What were the highlights of your reception?

Paul’s dad having a crappy microphone and thinking he was bombing his speech when in reality most people couldn’t hear him, the dancing and live music during cocktail hour.

Were any ethnic, religious, cultural, or family traditions included in your day?

Diane’s mom passed away 18 years ago. We set up her picture and set it in the front row of the reception. We also had a table with food for her at the reception and her picture on a charm for the bouquet.

One of our good friends was the officiant and it was a quick/smooth ceremony.

Any planning or wedding-day advice for future couples?

Hire a planner not just a coordinator because a planner will help you plan from start to finish in addition to the day of. Get a solid photographer!

Book a photographer, and hair and makeup artists as soon as you can.

How was the overall experience of your planning? Also, the highs and lows?

I (Paul) was fine,  Diane was stressed but everything turned out perfect.

Hunting and searching for the perfect place sucked. Vendors canceling at the last minute. It’s just a lot to deal with.

Read Their 5-Star Wedding Photography Review:

“All we can say is WOW, the pictures did not disappoint! We used Austen for everything, starting with engagement photos. It was a pleasure getting to know and work with him over the last six months.” -Paul

He nailed every type of shot we wanted. He got pics of EVERYONE and all of the pics captured their personality and the moment. He is quick and knows how to get the right shots without interrupting the flow of your big day. We told him we wanted a majority of our pics to be candid and not staged, and boy did he deliver! He’s like a secret ninja that gets every picture you could ever want. Even with that request, he’s done enough shoots & weddings to give you amazing advice along the way to help create picture-perfect moments during your day. He loves and takes pride in what he does and you will quickly see that when you interact with him. Without a videographer, he captured exactly what we needed to relive the wedding day; he’s worth every penny.” -Diane
