Snowbird Resort Winter Wedding

February 28, 2019

This Snowbird Resort Winter Wedding included iconic vistas from Hidden Peak, an intimate ceremony after lift hours, and an epic recessional on skis! Do you love Utah pow? These truly white weddings are beautiful and so much fun.

What’s a Snowbird Resort Winter Wedding Like?

A Snowbird Resort Winter Wedding is a fantastic option for you outdoorsy snow lovers, skiers, and snowboarders! There are multiple options for your wedding ceremony site at Snowbird. This includes weddings at The Summit, which you’ll see in the photos below.

Alissa & Chris were able to share a solo Tram ride up to the top of Hidden Peak, which has unrivaled views. The wedding was held after ski hours—and when summers are so busy at Snowbird—taking a Tram all to themselves was a unique experience. It sure made for some spectacular photos! The attendees took the next Tram, and they bundled up. Even in March, it was snowy, windy, and chilly. Type 2 fun! The wedding essentially took place in a cloud way up at 10,000 feet. Just look at this ethereal imagery. I can imagine a bluebird day for a winter wedding at Hidden Peak would blow your mind.

After the first kiss and some high fives, the bride and groom, along with some of the guests skied down Chip’s Run, escorted by the kindest ski patroller. It was the most epic recessional I’ve even seen!

About this Wedding at Snowbird

Alissa & Chris are desert dwellers but make the trek several times a year from Las Vegas to ski and ride at Snowbird Resort. It made sense, then, that they said their vows at such a special place to their story.  Intimate weddings are a really wonderful, low-key experience. With only some-odd 30 guests, the flow of the day was so mellow.

This Snowbird Resort Winter Wedding began with a bang. Instead of a standard rehearsal dinner, Alissa & Chris and their crew opted for a full day of snowcat skiing. They had me come out with them to nab some action photos. This included them doing the Wasatch wiggle down fresh powder in matching onesies. Twist my arm! I’ll just put it out there: If you’re thinking about snowcat skiing or other adventurous excursions for your rehearsal dinner, please bring me!

On the wedding day, the two decided not to have a first look and even helped each other get ready. After some small bites, we made our way to Hidden Peak for what was probably the coldest wedding I’ve ever photographed. I loved it though! Before and after the wedding, we had the peak to ourselves for portraits that were romantic and playful—totally them.

Why Snowbird is Perfect for Weddings

Snowbird Resort is one of the best venues in Salt Lake City and beyond. It’s perfect in both the summer and winter months, for different reasons. Winter weddings are underrated, because they are unique and intimate. Word to the wise: You can oftentimes find better deals during non-peak months from the various resorts.

I work with a lot of in-house wedding planners and coordinators, and Snowbird’s fab team is always among my favorite. They make the wedding couple and their people feel so taken care of. As a photographer, they are a dream to work with because of their clear communication. I’m incredibly fortunate to be listed on their preferred vendor list.

On a final thought, the dining experience at Snowbird is always stellar. I personally believe that a wedding budget should should lean towards killer photography, the best band or DJ you can afford, and amazing food. You have to check out the custom-made cake made for these two. It’s a mountain with ski runs and skiers. Amazing.
