A mountain engagement session in the snowy Wasatch mountains with a fun-loving couple—check. Snowbird is Lauren & Tyler’s happy place, so it was a pleasure taking photos where they feel most alive and themselves.
The couple wanted some photos in casual, cozy clothes before we went out for some ski photos, so I suggested Cliff Lodge.
This venue makes for a wonderful location for summer weddings, and I’ve always been drawn to the industrial mid-mod architecture, which feels especially timeless when the mountain is snow-covered. The architectural lines, large swathes of concrete juxtaposed by massive windows overlooking the mountains, and tons of room to move around and explore creative ideas make it an ideal backdrop for portraits.
We immensely enjoyed romping around in the snow just outside of the lodge for this mountain engagement as the flakes added texture to the photos. For such adventurous sessions where we go skiing or cover miles on mountain bikes, I always suggest capturing some photos beforehand so as not to mess up hair and makeup, and we think it worked out beautifully.
Be sure to see the second part of the session, Skiing Engagement Session at Snowbird.
Special thanks to Ski Utah for providing ski passes for the shoot.
