Stein Eriksen Lodge Wedding Info & Cost

Stein Eriksen Lodge is the most classically alpine of Park City’s luxury wedding venues. It was the first lodge built at Deer Valley, named for the Norwegian Olympic skier, and it carries the European ski heritage that goes with that: warm woods, stone fireplaces, and an atmosphere that feels earned rather than styled.

Couples who book it tend to genuinely love skiing and mountain culture rather than the look of it. Ceremonies run from a deck above the ski runs to an aspen-lined lawn, and receptions move indoors to the ballroom.

Ceremony Sites at Stein Eriksen Lodge

There are 2 outdoor ceremony sites at Stein Eriksen Lodge, at very different scales. The Flagstaff Mountain Deck holds up to 225 guests, with the groomed runs of the ski resort behind you. The Bald Mountain Lawn holds up to 150. Indoors, the Flagstaff Room holds up to 75 for a smaller ceremony.

Reception Spaces at Stein Eriksen Lodge

The Stein Ballroom is the main reception space. It runs 6,036 square feet, seats 325 for a wedding dinner with dancing, and holds up to 500 in flexible setups. A retractable airwall and glass sliding doors divide it, and it opens onto a two-tiered terrace of 2,184 square feet and a glass-enclosed foyer of 1,932 square feet.

The Olympic Ballroom also hosts weddings, including indoor ceremonies, and has its own wedding photo gallery on the Lodge’s site. It runs 4,050 square feet with more than 1,600 square feet of pre-function space, 2 fireplaces, and airwalls that split it into 6 breakout rooms. It holds up to 350 guests.

Valhalla and Odin are 2 private dining rooms inside the Glitretind Restaurant. Together they cover 2,596 square feet with a deck over 1,700 square feet and hold up to 320 guests, which suits a rehearsal dinner or a smaller reception.

For an after-party, the Champions Club is a 3,500-square-foot entertainment center with skeeball, video games and billiards. Alcohol service there runs until 1 a.m., with a 15-minute grace period to clear out.

There are also patios and lobby areas that can host a cocktail hour on their own or ahead of dinner.

Getting Ready, Lodging & Guest Logistics

Rooms on site start at 375-square-foot Deluxe Bedrooms and run through roughly 700-square-foot Luxury Bedrooms, Luxury Suites of 1,200 to 1,400 square feet, and Grand Suites of 800 to 3,000 square feet. Check-in is 4:00 p.m. and check-out is 11:00 a.m., and demand often means a suite isn’t ready any earlier than that.

The wedding party can book the bridal suite the night before at the discounted rate set in the room-block contract, and couples have also received a complimentary suite with a balcony and hot tub for their wedding night. There’s additional lodging nearby throughout the Deer Valley Resort as well, and an on-site spa offers bridal hair and makeup for a fee.

Parking is valet only. The Lodge is about 45 minutes from Salt Lake City International Airport and a 5-minute shuttle ride from Main Street, on a complimentary shuttle that runs every 30 minutes from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Setup can start at 2:00 p.m. on the wedding day, and couples get full access the day before at no charge if the venue is free 30 days out.

Catering & Vendors at Stein Eriksen Lodge

Catering is in-house only, and no outside food or alcohol comes onto the property. Wasatch A/V is the exclusive audio-visual vendor, covering band staging, chandelier rigging, uplighting, pinspotting and video screens, and its pricing lands on the banquet bill. A band or DJ can bring its own sound system but can’t supply its own ambient lighting. There’s a preferred-vendor list, and using it is recommended rather than required.

You need to hire at least a day-of or month-of planner. The Lodge’s event manager oversees the venue and the catering but doesn’t act as your coordinator, and won’t place cards, manage family photos, handle favors or coordinate transportation.

Stein Eriksen Lodge Wedding Cost

Stein Eriksen Lodge doesn’t charge a ceremony fee or a site fee. Its own wedding guide prices a package at $230 per guest for a 6-hour event, plus an estimated $80 to $100 per guest for beverage, a 24% service charge on food and beverage, and 23% on a hosted bar. The Lodge’s site has more recently quoted a minimum of about $250 per guest, in 2023, plus at least $80 per guest for beverages.

Packages have covered the ceremony and reception spaces, audio equipment, tables and chairs, food, water for guests, bartenders, valet parking, tableware, and a tasting menu for the couple. Those figures span several seasons, so treat them as a starting point.

There’s no published food-and-beverage minimum. A sales manager sets it against your guest count, your anticipated spend, and the date and season you want.

Wedding Spot lists a starting price around $12,140 for 50 guests, and WeddingWire lists a starting price around $36,050, which bundles in a seasonal site fee of $20,000 to $30,000. Those are two different aggregators measuring two different things — a small-package floor versus an all-in starting estimate — not fees the Lodge itself charges, and the Lodge’s own guide states there is no site fee at all.

What to Know Before You Book Stein Eriksen Lodge

The ceremony site that looks out over the ski runs is one of the more interesting backdrops at any Park City venue. You can read the shape and texture of the groomers carved into the mountain, so what’s behind you is recognizably one of the best ski resorts in the country rather than a big anonymous slope.

The food is exceptional, which counts for more here than it would elsewhere, because catering is in-house and there’s no shopping around.

It’s also one of the better places in Utah for blue hour, because of the way the buildings and the mountain are oriented. You lose the sun a little early. That sounds like a problem and mostly isn’t: a low-key blue hour can beat golden hour outright, because everything goes soft and romantic instead of bright.
