Storm Mountain Amphitheater is a charming outdoor venue for weddings in Big Cottonwood Canyon right outside Salt Lake City. It is surrounded on all sides by high canyon walls, and nestled in lush greenery during the summer months. It is the perfect place for couples who want a canyon wedding but may have a restricted budget, or want to handle all the details of their celebration on their own.
Here’s what you need to know to start planning your wedding at Storm Mountain Amphitheater.
Storm Mountain Amphitheater Wedding Info
This is a truly breathtaking venue. The small stone theater sits in the towing shadow of Storm Mountain, one of the most impressive features of Big Cottonwood Canyon. It is a National Forest Service site with picnic areas nearby where you can toast your nuptials or have a campfire reception.
The best months to host a wedding at Storm Mountain Amphitheater are May through September (when the snow is gone).
Wedding Ceremony Sites
The amphitheater is located in a grove of oak trees at the base of Storm Mountain next to Big Cottonwood Creek. The ceremony area is a cement patio with stone tiers covered with wooden benches for seating. At the center of the patio is a bulletin board, which you can cover with decorations for your ceremony.
Wedding Reception Site
You can either rent a picnic area for your reception or have it in the amphitheater. There isn’t a lot of room for tables and chairs in the theater area though, so it would be a flowing reception with guests in the audience area.
Bridal Suite/ Getting Ready Rooms
There are bathrooms at the trailhead, but you don’t want to get ready there.
