The Utah State Capitol is an absolutely amazing place for a wedding. This Salt Lake City landmark is one of the most iconic and historic buildings in the state and is an absolutely breathtaking space for you to say your vows and hold your reception.

Take a look at the basics of holding your wedding in the Utah State Capitol.

Utah State Capitol Wedding Info

The Utah State Capitol is an awe-inspiring site from the outside with its granite pillars, regal lion sculptures, and copper dome. Inside it’s even prettier with a soaring rotunda, white marble walls and floors, and sweeping staircases leading up to the legislative chambers. The ceilings are painted with moments in the state’s history, as well as the sego lilies (the state flower) and seagulls (the state bird).

The Utah State Capitol hosts weddings year-round.

Wedding Ceremony Sites

Yes, there are many places you could hold a ceremony in the Utah State Capitol, but there is really only one where you will want to: the grand staircase in the rotunda. Here couples can descend the massive staircase from each side and be wed on the main stairs flanked by large gold and glass light fixtures. It is an absolutely jaw-dropping visual.

Wedding Reception Site

There is plenty of space for your reception in the rotunda space. You can set up tables and chairs on the perimeter of the dome and set a dance floor in the middle.

The plazas on each side of the capitol are also splendid spaces for receptions. They are perfect for nighttime events as they overlook the sparkling lights of the city. Both have ample space for dining and dancing.

Bridal Suite/ Getting Ready Rooms

There is a room available for final touches, however, the bulk of the wedding prep should be done off-site.

Other unique amenities

The Utah State Capitol is an incredible place for photos. The manicured grounds and granite facade outside, and the marble detailing on the interior are stunning backdrops. It’s almost impossible to take a bad photo here.
